    Jawline Filler

Sculpts and defines the jawline with strategic HA filler placement.

    The short answer

Jawline filler uses firm hyaluronic acid at the gonial angle and along the mandibular border to define the lower face and sharpen the jaw-to-neck line. At Plump it is $850 for 1ml ($750 for members) and $1,700 for 2ml ($1,500 for members); most patients need two to four syringes and results last 12-18 months.

    About Jawline Filler

Jawline filler uses structural hyaluronic acid to define the jaw angle, sharpen the border between face and neck, and create a stronger lower-face outline. It works on both men and women — the goals differ (more angular vs. more refined) but the technique is similar.

The treatment usually focuses on the gonial angle (the corner of the jaw below the ear) and the mandibular border (the line that runs forward toward the chin). Filling these strategically gives the lower face structure and can soften jowls by re-establishing a clean border. We use firm, long-lasting fillers like Voluma and Restylane Lyft because the product has to resist gravity and chewing movement.

Most patients use 2–4 syringes total for a full jawline depending on starting anatomy. Results last 12–18 months and are typically combined with chin filler for full lower-face contouring.

    In depth

What jawline filler can and cannot do

Jawline filler builds structure on bone. It sharpens the angle below the ear, straightens the border running forward toward the chin, and re-establishes a clean line between face and neck. Done well, it makes the lower face look defined rather than filled.

It does not remove submental fat, tighten loose skin, or lift significant jowling. If there is a fat pad under the chin, filler will define the border above it and can make the fullness below more obvious, not less. If skin laxity is the primary issue, adding volume can add weight.

We are direct about this at consultation because it is the single biggest source of disappointment with the treatment. A candid "this is a skin problem, not a volume problem" is more useful than three syringes that do not change what you actually see in the mirror.

    Technique: angle, border, and pre-jowl

Treatment is built from three zones. The gonial angle sets width and the squareness of the lower face. The mandibular border defines the straight line running forward. The pre-jowl sulcus — the small dip just in front of the jowl — is often the highest-yield injection point, because filling it removes the scalloped edge that reads as sagging.

Goals differ by patient. A masculine jaw generally wants width and a more acute angle; a feminine jaw usually wants a taut, clean border with less added width. Same technique, different distribution.

Product is placed deep on bone with a cannula along the border and needle at the angle. High-G-prime products — Voluma and Restylane Lyft — are used because the jaw is under constant load from chewing.

How many syringes and what it costs

Most full jawlines take two to four syringes depending on starting anatomy and how defined you want the result. Two millilitres at $1,700 ($1,500 for members) is the common starting package, saving $100 against two individual syringes; a single 1ml syringe at $850 ($750 for members) suits patients who need only pre-jowl correction or a modest angle build.

We routinely stage this across two visits, especially at the higher end. Placing two syringes, letting them settle for two weeks, then deciding whether more is warranted gives a better outcome than committing to four in one sitting.

If you are also treating the chin, plan the lower face as one budget. Chin plus jaw is typically three to four syringes total.

When masseter Botox belongs in the plan

Jaw width can be bony, muscular, or a mix. If the width comes from a hypertrophic masseter — palpable as a bulge when you clench — neuromodulator narrows it, and adding filler to an already-wide muscular jaw makes the lower face heavier.

The reverse is also common: patients who want a stronger, more defined jaw and are considering masseter treatment because they saw it online, when what they actually need is structure. Reducing muscle in that face makes the jaw less defined, not more.

We palpate before recommending either. The two treatments pull in opposite directions and choosing the wrong one is an expensive detour.

    Recovery, settling, and longevity

Expect swelling for three to seven days and the possibility of bruising, particularly along the border where a cannula is used. Chewing may feel slightly tender for a few days.

Assess at two weeks. Early swelling exaggerates width, and patients frequently think their jaw is too heavy at day four when the settled result is exactly what was planned.

Results last 12-18 months. Jaw movement metabolizes product somewhat faster than the midface, so most patients maintain with one to two syringes annually rather than repeating the full build.

    Good for

    • Adults wanting a more defined or sculpted jawline
    • Patients with mild to moderate jowling or loss of jaw border
    • Men and women looking for lower-face structure
    • People combining with chin filler for full lower-face contouring

    Not ideal if

    • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients
    • Significant excess skin or advanced jowling (consider surgical consultation)
    • Active skin infection in the treatment area

    Questions about jawline filler

Most patients use 2–4 syringes total across both sides for a noticeable jawline definition. Some patients only want to define the angle and use less. Your injector will recommend an amount based on your anatomy and goals.

Typically 12–18 months with firm structural products. Maintenance treatments are usually smaller than the initial session.

It can help define the border between face and neck, which improves how jowls read visually. For significant jowling, filler may not be enough on its own — your injector will give you an honest assessment at consultation.

Discomfort is mild. We use topical numbing, and the filler itself contains lidocaine. Most patients describe it as pressure rather than pain.

Yes. Jawline filler is one of our most-requested treatments for male patients. The technique is adapted to enhance angularity and structure rather than soften.
