    Treatment

    Chin Filler

HA filler that balances the chin and improves lower-face proportion and projection.

    The short answer

Chin filler adds projection and shape with firm hyaluronic acid, balancing a recessed or short chin and sharpening the jaw-to-neck transition. At Plump it is $850 for 1ml ($750 for members) or $1,700 for 2ml ($1,500 for members), and results last 12-18 months.

    About Chin Filler

Chin filler uses structural hyaluronic acid to add projection, refine shape, or balance a recessed chin. It's one of the most underrated treatments in cosmetic injectables because chin proportion has an outsized effect on how the whole face reads — particularly in profile.

A stronger chin lengthens the lower face, sharpens the jawline, and improves the angle between neck and jaw. For patients with a small or backwards-set chin, even a small amount of filler can dramatically improve facial harmony. We use firm, supportive products like Voluma, Restylane Lyft, and Defyne for chin work because the product needs to hold its shape and resist movement.

Results are immediate and typically last 12–18 months. The chin is a low-movement area, so the product breaks down slowly.

    In depth

The most underrated treatment in injectables

Chin projection has an outsized effect on how a whole face reads, and almost nobody books it as their first treatment. Patients arrive asking about their jawline, their profile, or the look of their neck, and in a meaningful share of those cases the underlying issue is a chin that sits slightly behind where the rest of the face expects it to be.

In profile, an ideal chin roughly reaches a vertical line dropped from the lower lip. When it falls short, the lower face looks shorter, the nose reads as larger by contrast, the submental area looks fuller than it is, and the jawline appears to fade rather than resolve into a point.

Adding two to four millimeters of projection changes all of that simultaneously. It is one of the few treatments where a small amount of product produces a change people notice in photographs without being able to name what changed.

    What we assess before injecting

We photograph you in profile and at three-quarters, because a chin problem is essentially invisible from the front. We look at chin projection relative to the lower lip, the vertical height of the lower face, the depth of the labiomental fold, and the mentalis muscle at rest.

A hyperactive mentalis — the muscle that produces a dimpled, pebbled chin when you purse — is a common finding, and treating it with a few units of neuromodulator alongside filler produces a smoother, more predictable result than filler alone.

Dental occlusion matters too. Significant retrognathia with a functional bite problem belongs with an orthodontist or maxillofacial surgeon, not a syringe. We will say so if that is what we are looking at.

    Product, technique, and cost

We use firm, supportive products — Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, and Restylane Defyne — because the chin has to hold its shape against constant mentalis activity. A soft product here migrates and blunts.

Placement is deep, on the periosteum, at the pogonion for projection and along the lateral chin for width and shape. Whether we build forward, downward, or wider depends entirely on whether your issue is projection, vertical height, or squareness.

One millilitre is $850 ($750 for members) and covers most projection-only cases. Two millilitres is $1,700 ($1,500 for members) and saves $100 against two single syringes; that is the usual amount when we are lengthening the lower face or building genuine width.

Chin and jawline as one treatment

Chin and jaw filler are functionally one contouring plan. The chin sets the anterior anchor and the jawline runs back from it; treating one and not the other frequently produces a lower face that looks unbalanced from the side.

For patients doing both, we usually start at the chin. Establishing the anterior point first tells us how much lateral jaw definition is actually needed, and it is common to need less jawline product than expected once the chin is right.

Budget-wise, a combined lower-face plan generally runs three to four syringes total across one or two visits. Staging is fine and often preferable — you get to live with the first stage before committing to the second.

    Recovery and longevity

Swelling is modest and usually resolves within three to five days. Bruising is possible but the injection points are few. The chin can feel firm and slightly odd to the touch for a week or two while the product integrates.

Results last 12-18 months. The chin is a low-movement area relative to the lips, but mentalis activity does gradually break product down, which is another reason we sometimes pair treatment with a small neuromodulator dose.

As with all our hyaluronic acid work, it is fully reversible with hyaluronidase if you decide the projection is not for you.

    Questions about chin filler

Most patients start with 1–2 syringes depending on the degree of projection needed. Your injector will assess your profile, proportions, and goals at consultation and recommend an amount.

Typically 12–18 months. The chin moves less than lips or cheeks, so the product persists longer. Maintenance treatments can often be smaller after the first session.

Yes. All hyaluronic acid fillers we use can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you don't like the result or want to start over.

Often, yes. Adding projection to the chin sharpens the angle between the neck and jaw and creates a more defined jawline overall. For full jawline definition, chin filler is often combined with jaw filler.

Pricing is per syringe and posted on our Treatments page. Members of our injectable membership get reduced per-syringe pricing.

Most patients have mild swelling and possible bruising for 3–5 days. You can return to work the same day. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.
