    Cheek Filler

Structural HA filler that restores midface volume and lifts the cheek contour.

    The short answer

Cheek filler is firm hyaluronic acid placed deep on the midface bone to restore projection and lift the tissue below it. At Plump a 1ml syringe of cheek contour or volumization is $850 ($765 for members), most patients use one to two syringes, and results last 18-24 months.

    About Cheek Filler

Cheek filler is structural hyaluronic acid placed in the midface — specifically on the underlying bone or deep tissue — to restore projection, lift the contour, and support the structures below it. When cheeks lose volume, the rest of the face follows: the smile lines deepen, the under-eye looks hollower, the jawline softens. Treating the cheeks first often improves all of it.

At Plump we use firmer, longer-lasting fillers like Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft for cheek work because the product needs to hold shape against gravity and movement. Placement is precise and conservative — we're building support, not adding bulk.

Results are immediate, with final settling at around two weeks. A well-placed cheek treatment typically lasts 18–24 months, making it one of the more cost-effective HA treatments per month of result.

    In depth

Why the midface is treated first

The cheek is the keystone of the lower two-thirds of the face. Fat pads in the midface deflate and descend with age, and everything downstream follows: the nasolabial fold deepens because tissue is resting on it, the under-eye looks hollower because the lid-cheek junction has dropped, and the jawline softens because the tissue that used to sit higher now sits lower.

That is why treating smile lines directly is often the wrong first move. Filling the fold itself can work, but it treats a symptom. Restoring support where the volume was actually lost lifts tissue off the fold and improves the under-eye and jaw at the same time, usually with less total product.

At consultation we look at your face in three-quarter view and in animation, not just straight on. Midface deflation reads most obviously at an angle, and a plan built from a front-facing photo alone tends to over-fill the front of the cheek and flatten the contour.

    Product choice and placement layer

We use Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft for cheek work. Both are high-G-prime products, meaning they resist deformation and hold their shape against gravity and chewing. Soft, low-cohesivity fillers spread under load and are the wrong tool here.

Placement is supraperiosteal — directly on the bone — in small aliquots at the zygomatic arch, the anterior cheek, and occasionally the submalar hollow. Deep placement is what produces lift rather than surface fullness. Filler placed superficially in the midface is the classic cause of the pillowed, over-treated look people are trying to avoid.

Conservative volume placed correctly beats generous volume placed shallow. If a cheek looks puffy rather than lifted, the issue is almost always layer, not quantity.

How much you need and what it costs

Cheek contour and cheek volumization are both $850 per 1ml syringe, $765 for members, priced identically at all six locations. Most first-time patients use one syringe split across both sides; patients with more significant deflation typically need two.

One syringe across two cheeks is a modest, natural change — it will read as looking rested rather than as a visible structural shift. If your goal is genuine contour restoration, plan for two and know that it can be staged across two visits if you would rather build gradually.

Per month of result, cheek filler is one of the better values we offer. At 18-24 months of longevity, a two-syringe treatment works out to well under $100 a month.

    Cheek filler vs. Sculptra

These are frequently cross-shopped and they solve overlapping but different problems. Hyaluronic acid gives immediate, shapeable, reversible projection in a specific location. Sculptra rebuilds diffuse collagen across a broader area over three to six months and lasts up to two years, but it cannot be shaped precisely and cannot be reversed.

If you want a defined cheekbone or a specific contour, hyaluronic acid is the right tool. If your face has thinned globally and you want overall restoration rather than a defined edge, Sculptra usually gives a more natural outcome. Many patients end up using both — Sculptra for the foundation, a small amount of hyaluronic acid for definition on top.

We will tell you at consultation which one your face is actually asking for, including when the answer is neither.

    Recovery, settling, and longevity

Expect mild swelling and possible bruising for three to seven days. Because the product sits deep on bone, bruising is less visible here than in the lips, but the deep injection can feel tender to pressure for several days.

Judge the result at two weeks. Early swelling in the midface makes cheeks look fuller than the final outcome, and patients who assess at day three routinely think they have had too much.

Longevity runs 18-24 months. The midface moves relatively little compared to the lips, so the product metabolizes slowly. Most patients top up with a single syringe every 18 months or so rather than repeating the full initial treatment.

    Good for

    • Adults with midface volume loss from aging
    • Patients wanting more cheek projection or contour
    • Anyone whose smile lines or under-eyes are driven by midface deflation
    • People looking for longer-lasting filler results (18–24 months)

    Not ideal if

    • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients
    • Active skin infection in the treatment area
    • Patients with very thin midface skin where filler may show — discuss alternatives at consultation

    Questions about cheek filler

A 1ml syringe of cheek contour or volumisation is $850 at Plump, $765 for members. Most patients use one to two syringes depending on how much midface support has been lost.

18–24 months. Cheek work uses high-G-prime products such as Juvéderm Voluma and Restylane Lyft, placed deep on bone where they are subject to less movement than lips.

Cheek filler gives immediate, precise projection on the bone and is the better choice for defined contour. Sculptra rebuilds your own collagen diffusely over 3–6 months and suits generalised deflation across the midface, temples and jawline. Many plans combine them: Sculptra for the foundation, filler for the definition.

Structural cheek filler with products like Voluma or Restylane Lyft typically lasts 18–24 months. The midface moves less than the lips, so the product breaks down more slowly.

Not when it's placed correctly. The goal is lift and projection on the bone, not surface puffiness. Overfilled cheeks usually mean the wrong product was placed in the wrong layer. Our injectors place deep and conservatively.

Cheek filler is priced per syringe and listed on our Treatments page. Most patients use 1–2 syringes total across both cheeks at the first appointment. Members of our injectable membership get reduced pricing.

Often, yes. Restoring midface support lifts tissue away from the smile lines and softens them without filling the lines directly. Your injector will assess whether you'll get more from cheek treatment, direct line treatment, or both.

Most patients have minor swelling and possible bruising for 3–7 days. You can return to work the same day. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.

Yes — results are immediate, though you'll have some swelling that obscures the final shape for the first week. The result settles into its true form at around two weeks.
