    The short answer

A lip flip runs $80–$200 at most practices. Here is what sets the price and when it beats filler on cost.

    What to know

    1. 01A lip flip typically costs $80–$200 industry-wide; at Plump it is 4–6 units at $16/unit
    2. 02It is priced per unit of Botox or Dysport, not per syringe
    3. 03A lip flip adds show of upper lip — it does not add volume
    4. 04Results last 6–10 weeks, shorter than filler's 9–15 months
    5. 05Cost per month of result is often higher than filler despite the lower sticker price

A lip flip is one of the least expensive treatments on an injectable menu. It typically costs $80–$200, because it is priced by units of neuromodulator rather than by syringe of filler.

At Plump, a lip flip is billed at our standard per-unit rate of $16 per unit, and most lip flips use 4 to 6 units. That puts a typical lip flip at $64–$96 — meaningfully less than a syringe of lip filler, which runs $700–$1,200 in NYC.

Here is what actually drives the number, and how to judge whether a lip flip or filler is the better spend for what you want.

What a lip flip actually costs

A lip flip uses a small amount of Botox or Dysport placed in the orbicularis oris — the muscle ringing the mouth. Relaxing that muscle lets the upper lip roll slightly outward, showing more pink.

Because it is a neuromodulator treatment, it is priced the same way Botox is: per unit.

    • Units required: typically 4–6
    • Plump per-unit price: $16
    • Typical Plump total: $64–$96
    • Broader market range: $80–$200

Practices that quote a flat "lip flip package" price are bundling units. That is not inherently worse, but ask how many units are included, because a 2-unit flip and a 6-unit flip are different treatments at the same label.

Why a lip flip is cheaper than lip filler

The two treatments do different things, and the price gap reflects the amount of product involved.

A syringe of filler is simply more material and more technical work. A lip flip is a few units placed precisely.

Cost per month: the comparison most people miss

The sticker price favors the lip flip. The math over a year does not always.

A lip flip at $80 lasting 8 weeks means roughly 6.5 treatments a year, or about $520 annually. A full syringe of filler at $900 lasting 12 months is $900 once.

So the flip is still cheaper year over year — but not by the margin the sticker price suggests, and it is delivering a much subtler change. If what you want is more visible lip, the flip is efficient. If what you want is more lip, filler is the only treatment that does it, and paying for a flip repeatedly will not get you there.

When a lip flip is the right spend

A lip flip tends to be the better value when:

    • Your upper lip disappears when you smile (a "gummy" or inward-rolling smile)
    • You have adequate lip volume and want more show, not more size
    • You want to try a lip change with something that fully wears off
    • You are already coming in for Botox and can add the units to that visit

Filler is the better spend when you want measurable volume, definition of the border, or correction of asymmetry. Many patients eventually do both — filler for structure, a flip for the smile dynamic.

What to ask before you book

Cheap lip flips go wrong in predictable ways. Too many units, or units placed too low, can weaken the lip enough to affect speech, straw use, and the shape of your smile for the full duration.

    Ask:

    • How many units are in this price?
    • Who is injecting, and what is their training?
    • What happens if I do not like the result? (Neuromodulator cannot be dissolved — it must wear off.)
    • Are you assessing whether a flip or filler suits my anatomy, or just doing what I asked for?

A practice that answers the last question honestly is worth more than one that is $20 cheaper.
