The short answer
A lip flip at Plump Hoboken places 4–6 units of neuromodulator into the upper orbicularis oris so the lip rolls slightly outward, showing more pink without adding any volume. It bills at $16 per unit ($14.40/unit for members), shows at 3–7 days, and lasts 6–10 weeks.
Our Hoboken studio is on Washington Street, the main commercial spine of the city, and it's the only Plump in New Jersey. Clients come from Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, and Union City rather than crossing the river for the same treatment at the same price.
The lip flip is not filler. A few units relax the muscle that curls the upper lip inward, letting the vermilion evert. The lip is not bigger — more of it is simply visible. It also softens a gummy smile in patients whose upper lip lifts high.
Plump Hoboken typically uses 4–6 units. Dosing is deliberately small: over-treating this muscle affects speech, straw use, and pronunciation of plosive sounds for a few weeks. Onset is 3–7 days and it lasts 6–10 weeks — noticeably shorter than other neuromodulator areas because the muscle is thin and constantly active.
It pairs well with a small amount of filler for patients who want both eversion and shape, and it is a reasonable first step for anyone unsure about committing to filler at all. At $16 per unit, a flip is usually well under $100.
Hoboken is our most family-and-commuter-heavy studio: evening and weekend appointments dominate, and many clients previously drove into Manhattan for injectables.
About Lip Flip
A lip flip is a small amount of Botox or Dysport placed along the upper lip border. It relaxes the muscle that pulls the lip down, allowing more of the pink portion of the lip to show — which reads as fuller without adding any volume.
This treatment is for patients who want subtle lip enhancement, who don't want to commit to filler, or who have a 'gummy smile' where too much gum shows when they smile broadly. It typically uses 4–8 units total and the effect develops over 5–10 days.
A lip flip is shorter-lasting than filler — usually 6–10 weeks — because the small dose metabolizes quickly. It's a great option for first-timers, for patients who want a temporary trial, or for combining with a small amount of filler for layered results.
Good for
- Patients wanting a subtle lip enhancement without filler
- First-timers who want a temporary trial
- People with a 'gummy smile' showing excess gum line
- Anyone combining for layered results with filler
Not ideal if
- Pregnant or breastfeeding patients
- Patients wanting significant volume increase (consider filler)
- Active cold sore or lip infection
- Professionals whose work requires very fine lip control (singers, brass players) — discuss at consultation
